Favourite Films

Favourite Films
It's nice to watch a good film every once in a while.  To categorize a film as 'good' I mean the ones I can watch no matter how many times and still love it.  Some are good because they are just so wonderfully directed in every way and have a perfect rounded out combination of excitement, romance and humour.  Examples of this are two of my favourite films by Alfred Hitchock: 'Dial M for Murder' and 'Rear Window', both with Grace Kelly who was a wonderful actress.  Of course all films have to have good actors. Other films are good because they are so beautifully shot, with every scene a feast for your eyes.  Like the film 'You've Got Mail' with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks; apart from having such a lovely romantic story line the scenes are full of colour and inspiration.  His and her apartments for instance are sumptuous and so lovely to look at you have to watch the film again solely to take in all the detail! (Pictures below).  Also Meg Ryan's children's book shop is delightful with the gleaming polished dark wood, book lined walls, 'bouquets of sharpened pencils' and pretty shop front.  I think I love films best when they leave you with a happy and inspired feeling.  As a rule  for me all films must have a happy ending!

Pictures of Meg Ryan's apartment in 'You've Got Mail'.

Don't you just love the colours and all her pretty pictures and furniture.  If I had an apartment of my own I would definitely try to copy every detail.  Of course the actual building and architecture is beautiful, especially the wonderful bay window.

I love all the small lamps dotted about to give soft lighting and a cosy atmosphere.

The most comfortable sofa I have ever seen!
