My Favourite Places

Millook bay, Cornwall.

We have nearly always spent our holidays in Cornwall; although sometimes we discuss trying somewhere new to go we are inevitably drawn to Cornwall again and can't resist booking a week at the end of May.  We always stay along the north coast in the area of Bude and near to the beautiful bays and Harbour villages of Crackington, Boscastle, Widemouth, The Strangles and of course Millook.
I love Millook so much as the pebbly steep beach causes the waves at high tide to rear up spectacularly, crashing down with such a noise and then sucking back with a strange sound as the water is drawn through all the pebbles.  It is so thrilling to watch and I could stare at them forever!  It is especially exciting and atmospheric to go and sit on the beach in the evening and watch the red sun sink into the sea and then walk back along the shore through the dusky light, dodging the waves roaring up to your feet.
